1. What is Prolog® Converge?

A new Web-based application and platform powered by Prolog, the industry standard for construction project management software. Prolog Converge is a Web-based user interface and a powerful Web services platform.

2. What does Prolog Converge do?

Prolog Converge allows extended project teams to collaborate more efficiently and gives users the flexibility to choose how they access critical project data, whether in an online or offline environment, and across different technology systems and devices.

  • The Web-based user interface of Prolog Converge provides project management capabilities in the areas of Collaboration, Reporting, Document Management, and Field Management
  • The Web services platform of Prolog Converge enables integrations and interoperability though integrations to back office systems such as BIM, financial, and estimating systems.

3. What is the difference between Prolog Manager and Prolog Converge?

  • Prolog Manager and Prolog Converge offer different ways for users to access the Prolog data.
  • Manager is a Windows-based application utilizing a rich user interface.
  • Prolog Converge is a Web-based application, offering a Web user interface, built on a powerful Web services platform leveraging service oriented architecture and XML.
  • Both leverage the Prolog database and business functionality.

4. What functionality is available through Prolog Converge?

Prolog Converge currently offers the following Prolog functions:

  • Read only access to all Prolog records and data
  • Create and Edit access to the records
  • Document Control: Drawing Packages, Drawings & Specs, Hotlists, Meeting Minutes, RFIs, Submittal Packages and Submittal Register, Tasks
  • Field Administration: Daily Details, Daily Field Reports, Daily Work Journal, Events, Defect Lists
  • Company Management: Company Setup
  • File / Document management
  • Web access to Prolog Manager reports
  • Notification engine

5. Will Prolog Converge replace ProjectTalk?

No. ProjectTalk is a hosted version of Prolog, so Prolog Converge will not replace it, rather is enabled on it; therefore, Prolog Converge will ultimately be the user interface for collaboration users on ProjectTalk.

6. Can I migrate my Prolog WebSite licenses to Prolog Converge?

Yes. For customers who are interested in migrating their existing Prolog WebSite licenses to Prolog Converge there is a Prolog WebSite to Prolog Converge Migration program. Please contact your Meridian sales representative for information specific to your company configuration.

7. Does Prolog Converge integrate with Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications?

Yes, Meridian has established partnerships for BIM visualization and integration with Prolog Converge. The integration automates the RFI and Submittal processes.

8. Is Meridian going to make Prolog Manager fully Web-based?

No, Prolog Manager will remain a Windows-based application. Meridian is committed to providing options and choices for users. The Prolog Converge platform enables many additional interface options, including Microsoft Office Business Applications (OBAs), Microsoft Outlook, and role-based applications.

Role-Based Applications

9. What are role-based applications?

Role-based applications are simplified applications built for user efficiency, presenting information and data entry organized by role or user function. Role-based applications leverage familiar desktop applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Bing Maps to securely view, update and share information over the Internet.

Two types of role-based applications are OBAs and Prolog Desktop Applications:

  • An OBA is an application that uses a Microsoft Office application, such as Excel, to dynamically and securely interact with Prolog Manager data via the Internet.
  • A Prolog Desktop Application is a utility that allows users to query (or report) and view important Prolog project data either graphically though Microsoft Bing Maps or in Excel.

10. Can I purchase role-based applications?

Yes. The optional Prolog Converge Collaboration Pack (a collection of pre-configured OBAs and Prolog desktop applications) includes the following:

  • OBAs: RFI, Punch List, Daily Field Report, Meeting Minutes, Submittal Register

Requirements & Licensing

11. What version of Prolog Manager is required for Prolog Converge?

Prolog Converge requires Prolog Manager 2008 R1 and higher.

12. What are the required components for Prolog Converge?

  • Prolog Manager 2008 R1
  • Prolog Connect Server
  • Prolog Converge User License Pack (packs are available in bundles of five)

Software Support and Maintenance is recommended.

13. How is Prolog Connect Server licensed?

The Prolog Connect Server is licensed per site so that a customer may install multiple servers for load balancing, fault tolerance, etc.

14. How is Prolog Converge licensed?

Prolog Converge licenses are sold in concurrent Enterprise Packs (packs are available in bundles of five).

15. Am I required to migrate data from Prolog Manager to Prolog Converge?

No migration of data is necessary. Prolog Converge references your existing Prolog Manager database.

16. Can I migrate Prolog Manager licenses to Prolog Converge licenses?

No. There is currently no migration program for customers to migrate existing Prolog Manager licenses to Prolog Converge licenses.

17. I already own Prolog Connect, can I migrate to Prolog Converge?

Yes, there is a migration path from Prolog Connect server to the Prolog Converge server, please contact your Meridian representative for details regarding your specific installation.

18. I already own Encompass Web; can I migrate to Prolog Converge?

No. There is no migration path from Encompass Web to Prolog Converge. Please contact your Meridian representative for details regarding your specific installation.
